How to Install a Free SSL Certificate in cPanel (Updated Method)
cPanel has removed the old SSL/TLS Status menu where AutoSSL was previously managed. SSL certificates are now installed through a Wizard in the SSL/TLS Certificates menu. Follow the steps below to install a free Let's Encrypt certificate.
Before You Begin — DNS Requirements
For the SSL certificate to be issued successfully, your domain must be pointing to your iFastNet IP address. This means your domain's DNS must be managed either through your own DNS settings or via iFastNet's nameservers, with the A record resolving to your iFastNet hosting IP.
If your domain is using Cloudflare, you do not need to follow this guide. Cloudflare automatically provides and manages SSL certificates for any domain proxied through their service. The padlock and HTTPS will already be active on your site — there is no need to issue a certificate through cPanel in this case.
Step 1 — Open SSL/TLS Certificates
Log in to cPanel and go to the Security section. Click on SSL/TLS Certificates to open the new interface.
Step 2 — Launch the Wizard
Inside the SSL/TLS Certificates page, click the Wizard option to begin the guided SSL installation process. This replaces the old AutoSSL workflow — all free Let's Encrypt certificates are now issued from here.
Step 3 — Select your domain(s)
A list of your hosted domains will appear. Tick the checkbox next to each domain you want to secure with a free SSL certificate. You can select multiple domains at once.
Step 4 — Click the Continue button
Once you have selected your domain(s), scroll to the bottom of the page and click the blue Continue button to proceed.
Step 5 — Choose Let's Encrypt Certificate
On the next screen you will be prompted to select a certificate type. Choose Let's Encrypt Certificate — this is the free, trusted option.
Step 6 — Follow the prompts and finish
Follow any remaining on-screen prompts to confirm the installation. cPanel will automatically validate your domain and issue the SSL certificate. Once complete, your site will be secured with HTTPS at no cost.
After Installation — Activation Time
Once the SSL certificate has been issued through the cPanel Wizard, allow up to 10–20 minutes for it to fully activate and for HTTPS to start working on your site. In practice it is usually much faster than this, but if the padlock does not appear immediately, simply wait a few minutes and refresh your browser before raising a support ticket.
Note: The certificate will auto-renew before it expires, so no manual renewal is needed.
